The Lookout is located in the West Cornwall village of Porthleven. A traditional two bedroomed Cornish cottage adjacent to the Coastal Path with magnificent views over the outer harbour, along the beach and across Mounts Bay.
Guests return time and time again to this lovely old fisherman's cottage, not only for the views but because of the high standard of accommodation and comfort which The Lookout offers. The Hastings family bought the cottage in 2003, and since then its owner, Sally Hastings, has lovingly restored and refurbished it to make it the attractive property which it now is. Light and airey in the summer , ample background storage heating and a very convincing log-effect fire make it a warm and inviting refuge for the autumn and winter months,too.
Just minutes from the harbour side and village centre,past the historic 17 century Ship Inn, the cottage is sited on the UK Coastal Path, a stone's throw from stunning cliff walks along 'The Wrestling Fields' out towards Rinsey and Praa Sands. Ideal for an evening stroll at the end of the day, or the start of a more vigorous venture. Further along the coast there is the the bustling grey granite town of Penzance, the fish market at Newlyn, and the delightful little village of Mousehole , as you head out towards Lands End. In the other direction, Helston is just two miles away,and further on, the maritine port of Falmouth and the hauntingly beautiful Lizard penninsula with its host of little villages to explore .
The property is reverse level to take advantage of the views and has private, off-road parking for two vehicles, adjacent to the cottage. It offers two bedrooms, one with a king sized , 5ft bed, and the other twin room offers 2x3ft beds. The downstairs bathroom has a bath with a shower over . The country kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, electric oven and hob,microwave and washing machine. Background storage heating with electric radiators in both bedrooms.
From the kitchen, stairs lead upstairs to the large lounge diner with spectacular views over the outer harbour and out to sea over Mount's Bay. Comfy seating for five people allow you to relax in comfort and take it all in . There is an LCD TV with freeview and DVD player, an open fireplace and a dining table with four chairs. Background storage heating and a convector heater.
Rental includes bedlinen and electricity. Regret no pets and no smoking. The cottage also has an enclosed courtyard ideal as a secure area for storing surf boards, fishing rods or bikes.
Porthleven, where Sally was brought up, is completely unspoilt and retains its own “Cornish” feeling. It is centred around a picturesque harbour and is well served with a variety of shops, pubs and excellent fish restaurants.
